Benedict Cross

Benedict+Cross
What is it? I have a religious medal I want to identify. It is a quadrate cross. Silver 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″.?

It has a St Benedict cross on the back and a high relief picture of St Benedict on the front holding a staff in his right hand and a book in his left hand. There are words on the front, Ora, Labora, Pax and France I don’t think this is available on the retail market WHAT IS IT??????

It’s from the Benedictine Confederation; the inscription is “Ora, labora, et pax,” their motto, meaning “Prayer, work and peace” in Latin.

Blessed By Pope Benedict XVI San Damiano Cross Crucifix Wood Rosary

Quite possibly a Syrian monk was the unknown craftsman, for the Crucifix is an icon in the Syrian vein. The anonymity of the artisan reminds us penitents that we, too, ought to go about unknown and unnoticed to the world. Instead of the world noticing and acclaiming us, others should see…
