The ephod was only used for sacrifices. Nowadays, Jews no longer make sacrifices at the Temple (because it got destroyed by the Romans) and therefore, the ephod is no longer needed or worn.
The ephod, according to the Old Testament or the Jewish Torah, symbolizes priesthood. It was told to be made by God and should only be worn by a priest.
