Catholics: Should I take this custom?
In church today, all the statues and the crucifix were shrowded in purple. I have a Jesus statue, mary statue, and many other religious items. Should I take them down for Holy Week? Would it be a good custom?
It helps me think about why I took them down. What was the purpose?
The point of shrouding the images is to fast from what they represent. They represent the reminder of Christ’s love. If you want to adopt this at home as well, it couldn’t hurt. May make you appreciate having them around more when you remove the covers.
